The 5 Categories Of Twickenham Tickets Explained.

The process of choosing and buying tickets for the rugby at Twickenham can be quite overwhelming. The stadium has a capacity of 82,000, so there are a lot of seats to choose from. And you’ll soon realise that there are different categories of ticket. So what, exactly are these?

Tickets for Twickenham are grouped into 5 categories. The category is dictated by the seats’ location. The different categories are Premium, Category 1, Category 2, Category 3 and Category 4. The ticket price varies for each category; Premium being the most expensive and Category 4 the cheapest.

The price of each category will also vary depending on the match being played. So for example Premium tickets to an England vs Barbarians match, will be markedly cheaper than Premium tickets to an England vs South Africa match. In simple terms, the better the opposition is in the world rankings, or the bigger the spectacle, the higher the ticket price.

On that note, it’s also worth mentioning that tickets are not readily available for every match at Twickenham. Using the example above, tickets for an England vs Barbarians match will be on general sale. However, tickets to England vs South Africa will be much harder to get hold of.

If you want to know more about the different ways to get tickets for the rugby at Twickenham, I’d encourage you to have a read of this article that I wrote on how to get Twickenham tickets.

Category 1 tickets at Twickenham are the second most expensive standard ticket type and will buy you seats with an excellent view of the game. Category 1 seats are located in the Lower and Middle Tiers of the North and South stands; and the Lower and Upper tiers of the East and West Stands.

Where Are Category 1 Tickets At Twickenham?

There are scatterings of Category 1 tickets in each stand of the stadium. However, the majority of Category 1 seats are situated in the Lower and Middle tiers of the North and West Stands in the stadium.

It’s worth noting, if you’re thinking about Category 1 tickets in the Lower tiers of the East and West Stand, that the first 13 or so rows in the stadium are not covered by the roof.

So if you do end up buying these tickets in the front 13 rows, make sure you’re prepped with adequate clothes to protect you from the weather conditions on the day.

You may find that this post I wrote recently on what to wear at Twickenham, could serve as a useful resource when figuring out what clothes to take with you on match day.

Make sure though, if you do take extra clothes with you, that you have a read of this article I wrote on what you can take into Twickenham. It could save you from having something of yours confiscated at the gates on your way into the stadium.

I’ve displayed all the seating blocks in which there are category 1 seats in the table below for you.
