Twickenham Stadium has 4 stands of seating around its pitch. North, East, South & West. Each stand has 3 tiers. Lower, Middle & upper. In this post I’m going to focus on Twickenham’s East stand and all that it has to offer.
Redeveloped and opened in autumn 2018, Twickenham’s East Stand comprises 6 floors of event space available for private hire. This includes 9 suites from which to experience different levels of match day hospitality. As such, many seats in the east stand are reserved for hospitality ticket holders.
Now I’m going to cover the East Stand in more detail, including its location, the pitchside view and also the stadium seats. I’m also going to touch on each of the hospitality suites in this stand, and summarise what you could expect on match day as a hospitality ticket holder in these suites.
The East Stand’s Location.
The East Stand at Twickenham runs parallel to rugby road and is accessible via gates E & F in the stadium. In the South East corner of the East Stand (where the East & South stands meet) you’ll find both the ticket office and the Marriott hotel.
The East stand faces west and if you’re sat here watching the match on a clear day, you will have the sun shining directly at you. So be sure to take sunglasses if you want to avoid squinting your way through the match.
Because of its west facing position and subsequent exposure to sunlight, the East stand is, on a clear day, warmer to sit in than the West stand.
Remember though, stadiums do get cold. So, if you’ve a date in the diary at Twickenham; regardless of which stand you’ll be sitting in, be sure to go adequately dressed for the day. Check out this post where I detail what to wear to the rugby at Twickenham for a little more guidance on what to wear on match day.
The Seats In The East Stand.
The seats in the East stand run along the side of the pitch and offer excellent views of the game.
Check out the table below which displays all the seating blocks in the East Stand.
Seating Blocks In The East Stand At Twickenham
Lower Tier | Middle Tier | Upper Tier |
---|---|---|
L20 | M27 | U27 |
L21 | M28 | U28 |
L22 | M29 | U29 |
L23 | M30 | U30 |
L24 | M31 | U31 |
L25 | M32 | U32 |
L26 | M33 | U33 |
L27 | M34 | U34 |
L28 | M35 | U35 |
L29 | M36 | U36 |
L30 | M37 | U37 |
M38 | U38 | |
M39 | U39 |
Referring to the table above. The seats in the East stand that are in blocks M32 – M34 in the middle tier; or set back in the lower tier in blocks L24 – L26, will position you somewhere between the two 10-metre lines and the halfway line. This will give you the best overall view of the game and for this reason, these are some of the best seats that Twickenham has to offer.
Bear in mind though that these are Twickenham’s premium ticket category and so the most expensive standard ticket you can buy. Have a read of this article I wrote where I explain these different ticket categories at Twickenham and what the subsequent seating options are in the stadium for that category.
If you want to know more about the best seats in the stadium then I’d encourage you to have a read of this post I wrote recently on the best seats at Twickenham. You can also check out prices for upcoming events by clicking on the link in the table below.

Drink And Food Outlets In The East Stand.
As I mentioned earlier in the post, the East stand has 6 floors of event space and 9 hospitality suites, which are reserved exclusively for hospitality ticket holders on match days. It is in these suites that hospitality ticket holders will eat and drink before, after and during the match.
There aren’t quite as many bars and food outlets available for standard ticket holders in the East stand, compared to the other stands. And I’d hazard a guess that this is a direct result of the amount of hospitality suites that are situated there.
To put a figure on this, there are 69 bars in the 4 stands of the stadium (if you want more detail on this, check out this post I wrote on whether you can drink alcohol at Twickenham).
Of these 69 bars, just 13 are situated in the East stand. So in other words the East stand has around a 19% share of the bars in the stadium that are available to all ticket holders.
Comparatively, the West stand boasts 20 bars which represents around a 29% share.
Hospitality In The East Stand At Twickenham.
So, we’ve established that the East stand at Twickenham had a major redevelopment and renovation, in a bid to boost its hospitality offering. It subsequently reopened in 2018, and has since then been offering its plethora of hospitality suites.
These are available either for private hire throughout the year, or as part of a hospitality package for hospitality ticket holders on match days.
Below are the nine hospitality suites that are situated in the East stand of the stadium.
British Airways Rose Garden
Located on level 5 of the East Stand, the British Airways Rose Garden offers a relaxed hospitality experience with an outdoor feel.
You can expect a lively bustling atmosphere with live music, a fully stocked bar and street food on offer from various food outlets. It’s an informal suite with unreserved seating which has a capacity of 550 guests.
The East Wing
Located on level 4a, the East Wing spans the length of the East stand. It has fixed restaurant seating for 1020 guests. As a hospitality ticket holder with exclusive access to the East Wing you can expect as part of your package a five-course taster menu and stadium seats in the middle tier of the East stand.
The Lock No. 4 & The Lock No.5
The Lock No.4 & 5 are located on level 3 of the East stand. Here you will find a large bar and an open plan setting with round gala style tables for eating at. The Lock no.4 and the Lock no.5 have a capacity to seat 1250 for dinner.
The Gate L1
The Gate L1 is a chop house style restaurant situated on level 1 of the East stand. This suite can seat 530 guests for lunch or dinner.
The Gate L2
The Gate L2 is a similar chop house style restaurant to the Gate L1, although in my mind with an ever so subtly more grandiose feel. It is situated on level 2 of the East stand. The Gate L2 has 2 stylish bars and can seat 550 guests for lunch or dinner.
The Clubhouse Restaurant
The clubhouse suite is located on level 4 of the East stand and is split into 2 halves. The clubhouse restaurant and the clubhouse bar & kitchen. The clubhouse restaurant is on the more formal side of Twickenham’s hospitality suites. It has a capacity to seat 550 for lunch or dinner.
The Clubhouse Bar & Kitchen
The Clubhouse Bar & Kitchen makes up the other half of the Clubhouse. It has a more relaxed vibe than its Clubhouse neighbour with an open plan setting offering food and drink which caters for 1350 guests.
Union Ale House
The Union Ale house is located on level 1 of the East stand. It is Twickenham’s rugby pub offering and caters for around 300 guests.
